The best months to visit the Ndutu Region
The Ndutu area, a pivotal part of the Serengeti ecosystem, is unique because it offers rewarding wildlife viewing throughout the year. However, to witness the area’s most dramatic events and take full advantage of its offerings, certain months stand out.
From December to March, the plains of Ndutu come alive as they host the calving season of the Great Migration. Over a million wildebeest and zebras gather here during these months, transforming the region into a vibrant, bustling nursery. This period is an excellent time to visit, as the plains teem with newborns, and predators are more visible, providing thrilling and often intense wildlife sightings.
Following the rainy season, the lush plains offer spectacular bird-watching opportunities from April to June, with migratory species adding to the area’s avian diversity. Even in the drier months, from July to November, the region’s permanent water sources attract resilient wildlife, ensuring year-round game viewing.
While the wildlife is bountiful throughout the year, personal preferences and specific wildlife events are crucial in determining the best time to visit. Regardless of the month chosen, Ndutu’s wild and natural beauty never fails to captivate.
